Thinking ahead

to my next pair of socks.

Right now I am working on both the second sock for the dad and the wedding blanket (pics soon-camera shopping this weekend).

But, I am thinking ahead to my new pair of socks. I have some awesome red yarn (thanks to my SP) and some purple yarn. I want to do cables or lace or something more interesting.

So now is your chance; what is your favorite pattern? What socks do you always want people to knit? Don't limit by book, internet, or just what you made up. I'll take all suggestions.

depends. if the red yarn is mostly a solid color, I'd say the rib and cable socks from Interweave. Can't find the link right now, but let me know if you're interested and I'll email it to you. If it's variegated, well, there's always jaywalker, but I think Falling Leaves from Fall 2005 knitty would be nice.

I have been using a basic sock pattern that was in the 365 days for knitting pattern calendar for this year. It is a simple ST st, but I really like it for the bright busy yarns I have right now- some of the other intricate patterns will show better in a single color yarn-
hope that helps!
